#7 Far Cry 4 Review

In this week's review, we will discuss Ubisoft's Far Cry 4.

Far Cry 4 is an action-adventure style first person shooter. You play as Ajay Ghale. Ghale is originally from the nation of Kyrat. He fled to the United States as a child, but his mothers death pushed him to return to spread her ashes in their home country. Kyrat is now a dictatorship controlled by the game's main villain, Pagan Min. Because of him, Things aren't as simple as just returning home to spread the ashes. Upon your return, you are met by the Golden Path, who is the group that your late father led before his death. The Golden Path intend to lead the country of Kyrat back to freedom. The two leaders of the Golden path are siblings Sabal and Amita. The two constantly bicker as they have two separate opinions of the ideal method to lead Kyrat to freedom. As you help the Golden Path, you have to slowly choose which side you most align with. The story isn't the best I've ever seen in a video game, but it is good enough to let the game play carry it to success.

Speaking of game play, this is where the game truly shines. I think Far Cry 4 does a good job of balancing realism and fun. You can accomplish every mission going ball to the wall and shooting everybody, or you can be stealthy and off each enemy one by one. The game is challenging without being overly complicated. The wide variety of weapons make the game a ton of fun as well. You have access to vehicles, boats, and a wing suit to get around. The large world of Kyrat never feels inaccessible

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of Far Cry 4 is the environment. Kyrat is a huge and beautiful world that feels extremely immersive. The best video game worlds are those that make you feel as though you live in them, and not the other way around. There is tons of wildlife, both predatory and passive. It is not unlikely that you run into a bear while hunting a deer and end up having to fight for your life! The wildlife make for a fun experience and you know each time you boot them game up you have the chance to see something new.

Far Cry 4 all in all is a fun game that I would recommend to anybody who is a fan of the adventure genre.
